Use of the Facilities

A wedding is a covenant service of worship. The members and staff of Calvert City UMC suggest that decorations be kept to a reasonable amount that does not detract from the beauty and religious significance of the worship center. Also music chosen for the wedding ceremony must be tasteful and befitting a religious covenant ceremony.

_ Calvert City United Methodist Church is a non-smoking facility, no smoking is permitted anywhere in the building. Likewise, no alcoholic beverages may be brought or consumed on the premises.

_ Only drip less candles may be used along with appropriate candle holders.

_ Video taping and photography are allowed during the ceremony, however locations of photography and video equipment must be discussed with the pastor.

_ Birdseed will be used in the place of rice, but may not be thrown inside the building.

_ Do not adjust any thermostats. Our thermostats are programmed and any adjustment must be arranged through one of the members or staff.

_ No nails, thumbtacks, tape or adhesives are to be used in the building.

_ Saturday evening receptions must be concluded by 9:00 PM so the worship center may be prepared for Sunday morning worship. Related to this, all decorations must be taken down and removed following the wedding ceremony.

_ The furnishings in the worship center carry religious significance. Moving any of the furnishings must come with the approval of the minister or the Altar Guild.

The minister of Calvert City UMC is the final authority on the total wedding ceremony and wedding rehearsals. It is suggested that a wedding planner be employed, but they must meet with and coordinate with the pastor prior to the rehearsal.

Procedures

_ Dates must be submitted to the church office at a reasonable time period prior to the ceremony.

_ It is the bride and groom’s responsibility to insure all persons or parties connected to the wedding have read or been apprised of the policies set forth by Calvert City UMC.

_ It will be left to the bride, groom or wedding planner to secure sound technicians or musicians.

_ Pre-planning is best done during normal business hours however; arrangements may be made with a member or staff to view the church for planning apart from business hours. If a member of the wedding party or wedding planner requests a key, arrangements must be made through the church office along with a $25.00 refundable deposit when the key is returned.

_ The piano and organ shall not be moved.

_ The church will not be held liable for any lost or stolen articles during rehearsals or wedding ceremonies.

IMPORTANT  Calvert City UMC Fellowship Hall is a designated emergency shelter, in the event of an emergency, ALL activities will be suspended pending use of the facility.

Related to this, if a member of Calvert City UMC dies and the family wishes to hold their service at the church, ALL other activities will be

pre-empted in favor of the service. These are non-negotiable. ______ initials

I have read the Policies and Procedures contained in this document and agree to abide by the same upon approval of use of the facility and will insure that my guests abide by the same.
